Licensed Clinical Social Workers help clients deal with mental and emotional health issues. There are a wide variety of specializations you can focus on: mental health issues, substance abuse, public health, school social work, medical social work, marriage counseling, or children/family therapy.

You need to receive a Bachelor’s degree in a closely related field, such as psychology, child development, social work, or sociology.

Next, you need to earn your Master of Social Work degree. Some states require you to accumulate supervised clinical experience.
