EMERGENCY MEDICAL RESPONDER

(EMR)

Emergency Medical Responders (EMRs) respond to emergency calls performing basic treatment to patients in emergency medical and trauma situations and transporting them to medical facilities.

EDUCATION REQUIRED

Students enrolled in the Emergency Medical Services program are encouraged to participate in the HOSA - Future Health Professionals student organizational. HOSA activities include:  Leadership, community service, and state and national competitive events.  You must pass state EMS skill and written exam in order to register with the state of Oklahoma or a nationally accredited test for EMR license.  Must pass a criminal background check.

PROGRAM LENGTH

72 hours of training in Theory and Lab.

Skill performance with a written exam.

PLACES OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Fire Departments

  • Police departments

  • Volunteer fire departments

  • Business and industry areas for safety.

SALARY RANGE

$7.25 - $9.00
