Advanced Unlicensed Assistant

Advanced Unlicensed Assistants perform in an assistive role to licensed nurses in acute care settings. They complete a long-term care course and then proceed into the advanced curriculum to learn how to perform sterile specimen collection, urinary catheterization, and feeding per gastrointestinal tube.

  • Complete a 200-hour training program approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, certified by the Board after successful completion of a written and skills examination.  They must renew certification every two years.

  • 885 hours (12 months) Program length may vary based on progress rate and/or summer school attendance

  • Nursing Homes

  • Assisted living

  • Adult day care

  • Residential Care facilities
