The first pathway includes an associate degree from an accredited education program, 4 years of full-time, supervised experience in respiratory therapy, and 62 hours of college coursework, including mathematics, chemistry, physics, microbiology, anatomy, and physiology classes.

The second pathway includes an associate degree with 2 years of full-time, supervised experience and possessing the certified respiratory therapist credential.

The third pathway includes a bachelor’s degree in a discipline other than respiratory care, with 62 hours of college coursework in mathematics, chemistry, physics, microbiology, anatomy, and physiology and 2 years of full-time clinical experience.
