MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN
Medical lab technicians assist doctors and other specialists by performing a wide array of tests on blood, tissue and other bodily fluids of which the results can be used to diagnose and treat patients.
You must be a high school graduate or equivalent and meet one of the following requirements:
Complete a clinical laboratory training program approved/accredited by an organization approved by the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and pass the MLT generalist exam
Earned an associate’s degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology (60 semester hours of which 24 are either medical laboratory technology courses or 6 hours of chemistry, 6 hours biology, and 12 hours of courses in chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology in any combination and pass the MLT generalist exam
Successfully complete an official US military medical laboratory procedures course of at least 50 weeks duration and earn the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician)
